About

Hector Romero, web developer in Baja California

Who I am

I'm Hector Romero, a fullstack web developer. I've been writing software for more than seven years, and I work from Tijuana, Baja California, with teams in Mexico and the United States.

My day-to-day lives in JavaScript and TypeScript: Astro, React, Node.js, Express and NestJS on the code side, MongoDB and PostgreSQL on the data side, Tailwind CSS for the interface. I care less about whatever is fashionable and more about what holds a product up — that it loads fast, that it stays maintainable, that it still works six months from now.

Today I'm a Mid-Level Software Engineer at Tendril LLC (Long Beach, California). Before that I was a full-stack developer at Plaeto (Texas) and a software engineer at SIIL S.A. de C.V. (Tijuana, B.C.). I studied Systems Engineering at the National Technological Institute of Mexico, after a software programming technician degree at the College of Scientific and Technological Studies of B.C.

Alongside that I run my own web development agency and write this blog in Spanish and English: performance, technical SEO, security, and how I actually use AI agents in my workflow. I also give talks about this at developer communities. Everything I publish here I tried on one of my own projects first. When I'm away from the code, I'm on a bike.
